What kind of English lesson do you usually like?

どんな英語レッスンが好きですか？

We feel our lessons are triplo are quite different to some other English schools.

triploのレッスンは、他の英語スクールのレッスンとはかなり違うと感じています。

So, we thought we would explain to you what a typical English lesson at triplo is like. That way if you have never taken one of our lessons before you can get an idea of what to expect.

そこで、triploの典型的な英語レッスンがどのようなものかを説明しようと思います。まだレッスンを受けたことがない方は、ぜひ参考にしてください。

triplo is located about one minute from Shinjukugyeonmae Station on the Marunouchi Line. It is close, so it is very easy to get to us.

triploは、丸ノ内線「新宿御苑前駅」から徒歩1分ほどの場所にあります。近いので、とても行きやすいです。

You can also walk from JR Shinjuku station, in which case we recommend walking towards and then beside Shinjukugyoen. It is a lovely tree-lined street and particularly pretty in the spring with all the cherry blossoms.

JR新宿駅からも歩けますが、その場合は新宿御苑の横へ向かって歩くのがおすすめです。春には桜が咲き乱れ、とてもきれいな並木道です。

Our school is on the second floor above a nice French restaurant. We have wide open windows and you can see those same trees of Shinjukugyoen from inside triplo. They are the backdrop to all our lessons.

当校は、1階が素敵なフランス料理店になっている建物の2階にあります。窓が大きく、triploの中からも新宿御苑と同じ木々が見えます。この木々を背景にレッスンが行われます。

All in all, triplo is in a great location.

Our Space
私たちの空間

We think the first thing you will notice about our school is the interior of our space. It is very different to the usual English language school.

私たちの学校で最初に目につくのは、インテリアだと思います。通常の英語学校とは大きく異なります。

We don’t cram students into tiny windowless classrooms. Our space is open plan. We have sofas and comfy chairs, books and music, desks and private study benches.

窓のない小さな教室に生徒を詰め込むことはありません。オープンプランの空間です。ソファや座り心地の良い椅子、本や音楽、机や自習用ベンチがあります。

triplo is a mix of lounge, library, gallery, and cafe, so many people order a coffee or an Earl Grey tea to drink during the lesson.

ラウンジ、図書館、ギャラリー、カフェが混在するtriploでは、多くの人がレッスン中にコーヒーやアールグレイの紅茶を注文します。

The Lesson
レッスンについて

All our lessons start with chit-chat and small talk. This is very important because it helps you relax, warm up your English speaking skills and build relationships with the teacher and fellow students. After that, we get into the lesson.

すべてのレッスンは、雑談や世間話から始まります。これはとても大切なことで、リラックスし、英会話のスキルを高め、先生や他の生徒との関係を築くのに役立ちます。その後、レッスンに入ります。

All our lessons are hand-crafted by us. We write our own original lessons, so at this point, we will you give you a personalised worksheet containing everything you need to take part in the lesson.

レッスンはすべて私たちの手作りです。オリジナルレッスンを作成し、レッスンに参加するために必要なものがすべて書かれた個人用ワークシートをお渡しします。

The lesson is usually divided into three or four sections.

レッスンは通常、3つか4つのセクションに分かれています。

In the first part of the lesson, we introduce the topic. This might involve some conversation questions on the topic of the lesson; it could be a thinking and speaking task, for example thinking of and briefly explaining three famous people; a ranking task where put items in order of preference and then explain your choices; or many others. The main point is to get you familiar with the basic topic of the lesson and get you to speak in English from the start.

レッスンの最初のセクションでは、トピックを紹介します。その際、レッスンのトピックに関する質問をすることもあります。

例えば、3人の有名人について考え、簡単に説明するような思考と会話のタスク、アイテムを好きな順に並べ、選んだものを説明するランキングのタスクなど、さまざまなものがあります。

ポイントは、レッスンの基本トピックに慣れ、最初から英語で話すことです。

In the second part of the lesson, we might work on a language point or read some background to the lesson topic. This often means we do a short reading and look at some key vocabulary to help you understand and talk about the topic. With beginners, this often includes a grammar point.

2つ目のセクションでは、言語のポイントを押さえたり、トピックの背景を読んだりすることがあります。これは、トピックを理解し話すために、短い読み物や重要な語彙を確認することを意味します。ビギナーの方の場合は、文法のポイントについても含まれることがあります。

The third part of the lesson is usually the main part of the lesson where you will spend time talking about the lesson topic using a variety of tasks. This might mean interviewing a partner on their daily routine or their internet habits; it could mean giving a short speech on your favourite film or book; it could mean an in-depth discussion or debate. In all cases, you are practising speaking, communicating, collaborating and sharing in English.

3つ目のセクションは、通常、レッスンのメインパートで、様々なタスクを使ってレッスンのトピックについて話す時間となります。例えば、相手の日常生活やインターネットの習慣についてインタビューしたり、好きな映画や本について短いスピーチをしたり、深い議論や　ディベートをすることもあります。どのような場合でも、英語で話し、コミュニケーションをとり、協力し、共有する練習をします。

Some lessons might have a final part that often involves a short writing task on the topic. This is a good way to summarise and synthesise what you have learnt in the lesson.

レッスンによっては、最後にトピックについて短い文章を書く課題がある場合があります。これは、レッスンで学んだことを要約し、まとめるのに良い方法です。

At the end of the lesson, we will go over any final points and summarise what we did in class.

レッスンの終わりには、ポイントを確認し、クラスでやったことをまとめます。

The Teacher
講師について

Throughout the lesson, the teacher will act as your guide and resource. As well as facilitating the various activities in the lesson you will find that the teacher offers personalised feedback and correction on the ideas you want to express, explains grammar points where needed, helps you with vocabulary, and acts as a conversation partner. The small number of students in the class means that each student can get help, corrections and feedback from the teacher to help them improve.

レッスンの間、講師はあなたのガイドとして、またリソースとして機能します。レッスンの様々なアクティビティを進行するだけでなく、講師は生徒が表現したいアイデアに対して個別にフィードバックや修正を行い、必要に応じて文法を説明し、語彙の手助けをし、会話のパートナーにもなります。少人数制なので、生徒一人ひとりが講師からサポートや添削、フィードバックを受け、上達することができます。

And of course, you can ask any questions you need. The teachers are always there to help you.

From Week To Week
週ごとに

To make the most progress with your English you need to study regularly. We recommend that you take a lesson at least once a week. As you move from week to week you will see how the different lesson topics connect and build your knowledge of English.

英語を上達させるには、定期的な学習が必要です。少なくとも週に一度はレッスンを受けることをお勧めします。週を追うごとに、異なるレッスンのトピックがどのように関連し、英語の知識が蓄積されていくかがわかります。

We have a curriculum of lessons for each level that runs for the whole year, and every month we focus on a different theme. This helps you to practice speaking about and gain a deeper understanding of the theme’s relevant points as you come each week. As you improve and progress through the levels, you will find that the themes come round again reinforcing and building on what you learnt in the past.

各レベルのレッスンは通年でカリキュラム化されており、毎月異なるテーマに焦点を当てています。そのため、毎週来るたびに、そのテーマに関連するポイントについて話す練習をし、理解を深めることができます。レベルアップしていくにつれて、過去に学んだことを強化し、発展させたテーマが再び巡ってくるのです。
